Results-driven engineering consultancy.

IoT, energy, AI, cybersecurity: we take what each domain requires — no more, no less.

Brussels. 20 years in the field. Multidisciplinary team, production-ready deliverables.

Three situations

Three situations where we make a real difference.

You have a connected product idea.

You're at concept or pre-prototype stage. Before committing a significant R&D budget, you want to validate technical feasibility, identify the real risks and get a working prototype that can be defended before an investment committee. We adapt the format and timeline to your decision window.

You have an IoT fleet, and it's giving you trouble.

Intermittent failures, slow platform, uncertain security, drifting operational costs. You know there's a problem, but not where it is or what to prioritise. We diagnose your infrastructure end to end — from sensor to cloud — and deliver a costed improvement plan. Audit, fixes, execution support: choose one or take them in sequence.

You need a long-term technical partner.

Fractional technical leadership, regular security audits, architecture decisions on major evolutions. You have an internal team but no full-time senior IoT/energy/security specialist. We take the role — several days per month or per week depending on your needs.

Why us

Why Signal to Noise.

Genuinely full-stack.

From the electronic component to the cloud dashboard, covering industrial protocols (Modbus, CAN, P1/S1), radio (LoRa, cellular) and cybersecurity. Not a team of specialists who pass the ball between them. A team that takes responsibility for the whole system.

Security by design, not an afterthought.

CISSP in-house. We know what a compromised IoT product looks like, and we know how much it costs. We design from the threat model, not by bolting security on at the end.

0 to 1, and 1 to N.

We don't just deliver prototypes. We accompany you through series production, certification (CE, Synergrid C10/26, applicable standards) and ongoing operations.

Our method

Three non-negotiable commitments.

Engagement models

01

Technical audit and scoping

Short format, written deliverable. Feasibility, risks, target architecture, costed roadmap. Scope and duration defined together based on your stakes.

02

Project mission

Defined scope, defined deliverable. From specification to production-ready prototype, or from current project to new deployed version. Fixed price or day rate.

03

Fractional technical leadership

Long-term engagement, regular presence. You have a team and want a senior to steer, arbitrate and secure. Format adapted to your workload and deadlines.

What we take on
  • Connected industrial products, from sensor to cloud.
  • High-value IT missions: applied AI, cybersecurity, critical platform refactoring.
  • Fractional technical leadership for IoT, energy or data-intensive platform teams.
What we don't take on
  • Showcase websites, consumer mobile apps without strong technical depth.
  • Missions without an initial scoping phase.
  • Core technical work subcontracted out: we keep the lead.
Projects

Real projects, measurable results.

Smart metering platform for 7000+ PV installations

Context

Installation owners and individual users needed a platform to monitor solar production at scale, alongside related utility flows (electricity, gas, water, heat), with the reliability and security expected of critical energy infrastructure.

The challenge

Operating 7000+ installations meant handling sensitive metering data over heterogeneous field equipment, with strict requirements on availability, integrity and traceability. The platform had to scale without sacrificing security at any layer, from the meter to the web interface.

Our approach
  • End-to-end design of the metering chain, from field gateway to cloud platform.
  • Hardened architecture securing data at each layer: silicon, OT network, radio, server and web interface.
  • Performance monitoring of each installation: yield tracking, peer-to-peer cross-comparison between nearby sites and anomaly detection on time series.
Results
  • 7000+ installations monitored in production for installation owners and individual users.
  • Platform sustained over a decade of operation on critical energy infrastructure.

Retail energy optimisation

Context

A Belgian clothing retailer wanted to reduce energy consumption across its stores (lighting, HVAC) without heavy capital investment or operational disruption.

The challenge

Stores were not uniformly equipped. A single product was needed — capable of remotely controlling and monitoring heterogeneous equipment with a clear ROI.

Our approach
  • Common hardware platform, decoupled software layer adaptable to existing equipment per site.
  • Local and remote control of lighting by opening hours, HVAC regulation to cut consumption.
  • Per-store consumption monitoring with feedback to operators.
  • Secure end-to-end architecture, deployable without operational interruption.
Results
  • −17% electricity consumption on equipped stores.
  • Return on investment between 2 and 3 years.
  • Labelled Solar Impulse Efficient Solution (assessed by 3 independent experts).

Industrial 4G Linux gateway for remote monitoring and control

Context

Decentralized energy operators and industrial clients needed to monitor and remotely control distributed equipment over cellular networks, with the reliability and security expected of critical infrastructure.

The challenge

Field sites were heterogeneous, often without local IT, and exposed to harsh environments. The gateway had to support a wide range of industrial protocols, survive remote deployment for years and resist attacks targeting cellular and OT layers.

Our approach
  • Hardware and firmware design of an industrial-grade 4G Linux gateway, built for long unattended deployment.
  • Native support for industrial protocols (Modbus, Profibus, CAN, RS485, P1/S1) on the field side.
  • Secure remote management: signed firmware updates, hardened cellular link, end-to-end transport security.
  • Remote control of industrial processes with supervised command chain and continuous state reporting.
Results
  • Deployed in production across decentralized energy sites and industrial installations.
  • Sustained operation in critical environments with strict availability requirements.

Remote control of wind turbine obstruction lighting

Context

Wind operator wanted to remotely switch off the obstruction lights on its Belgian wind turbines to reduce light pollution when air traffic doesn't require it.

The challenge

Obstruction lighting is regulated and critical for aviation safety. The system required a reliable, redundant, continuously monitored architecture capable of reacting instantly to a detected aerial event.

Our approach
  • Full design of the obstruction lighting controller and its firmware.
  • Multi-cloud architecture for command chain redundancy.
  • Supervised telemetry with continuous state reporting per device.
  • Compliance with aviation safety and reliability requirements.
Results
  • System deployed in production on wind farms in Belgium.
  • Public demonstration in an official communications video (YouTube, 2020).

Inverter homologation and security assessment, testing for the EU market

Context

A solar integrator was sourcing on-grid, hybrid and off-grid inverters from OEM and ODM manufacturers in Asia, with the goal of bringing them to the European market under their own brand. The hardware and firmware had to meet Belgian grid requirements and stand up to scrutiny on cybersecurity before being deployed at customer sites.

The challenge

Inverters from third-party manufacturers vary widely in build quality, firmware maturity and security posture. Cleared for one market does not mean cleared for another, and a single weak device can compromise an entire fleet. The assessment had to cover regulatory, technical and security layers without slowing down the commercial roadmap.

Our approach
  • Selection and technical evaluation of OEM and ODM manufacturers in Asia for on-grid, hybrid and off-grid inverters.
  • Belgian grid homologation (Synergrid C10/26) of hybrid inverters, including test campaigns and documentation.
  • Cybersecurity assessment of hardware and firmware across all layers, blocking insecure devices from reaching the EU market.
  • Storage subsystem optimisation: sizing, charge and discharge strategy, integration with hybrid inverters and on-site self-consumption.
Results
  • Hybrid inverters cleared for the Belgian grid (Synergrid C10/26).
  • Storage installations homologated under Synergrid and RGIE rules.
  • Insecure devices identified and excluded before deployment, protecting downstream customers.
Applied AI Product

Multimodal, multi-model assistant with hybrid RAG over private knowledge bases

Context

Knowledge workers sit on years of internal documents, technical reports, images and recordings that hold real value, but stay unused because no one can search them efficiently. Off-the-shelf chatbots either fail on private data, lock users into a single model with its own biases, or send sensitive content to third-party clouds.

The challenge

A single LLM is a single point of failure: one bias, one set of hallucinations, one provider's terms of service. Building a serious assistant means combining several models, retrieving from heterogeneous private sources, and giving the user a fast way to compose, cross-check and reroute queries, without sacrificing confidentiality or latency.

Our approach
  • Multimodal ingestion (text, audio, image) feeding a personal knowledge base used as a long-term brain extension.
  • Hybrid RAG combining keyword search (Lucene BM25) and embedding retrieval with reranking on a MongoDB backend.
  • Multi-model layer (Claude, OpenAI, Qwen, Mistral and others), switchable per query for cross-checking, bias detection and resilience.
  • Pipe-style command syntax (in >> command >> command >> out) and skills to compose well-formed queries.
  • Distributed microservices architecture on Docker, runnable locally or in the cloud, accessible via Telegram from desktop, phone and any other Telegram client.
Results
  • Live product with paying users.
  • Several major LLM providers consolidated behind one consistent command interface.
  • Same architecture deployable locally or in the cloud, with sensitive data kept under user control: no data sale, no data sharing, no model training on user data.
